Frequently asked questions

How does Unspiral work?

When you open a site you've added to your list, Unspiral shows a brief full-screen reframe before the site loads. You name what's pulling you in, read a short supportive thought, take a breath, and then choose how long to open the site for. It's friction, not a hard block — you're always in control.

How do I add or remove sites?

Open the extension's Settings page (right-click the icon → Options, or use the link in the popup) and use the "Sites to intercept" editor. You can also add the site you're currently on with one click from the popup.

What is a "pass"?

After you complete a reframe, Unspiral opens the site for a set time (15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, or the rest of the day) so you're not interrupted again right away. You can end a pass early anytime from the popup to re-protect the site.

Can I change how much friction there is?

Yes. In Settings you can set the default pass length, the length of the pause timer before "Continue" becomes available, and whether the "what's pulling you in?" picker is shown.

Is my data collected?

No. Unspiral runs entirely on your device. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no tracking. Your blocklist, settings, and stats never leave your browser. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I reset my streak or settings?

In Settings, use "Reset stats & streak" to zero your counts, or "Restore all defaults" to reset everything. Uninstalling the extension also removes all stored data.
