Unspiral does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Everything the
extension does happens entirely on your own device.
What data Unspiral stores
Unspiral saves a small amount of information locally in your browser using
Chrome's storage.local API. This includes:
The list of websites you choose to intercept (your blocklist).
Your preferences (default pass length, pause timer, distortion-picker toggle).
Temporary "passes" — timestamps recording when a site was last unlocked.
Your usage stats (daily streak and the number of reframes you've completed).
This data never leaves your computer. It is not sent to us or to any third party, because
Unspiral has no servers and makes no network requests.
What Unspiral does NOT do
No accounts, logins, or sign-ups.
No analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry.
No advertising and no ad networks.
No selling or sharing of any information.
No reading or storing of the content of the pages you visit.
Permissions and why they're needed
storage — to save your blocklist, settings, and stats on your device.
webNavigation — to detect when you're about to open a site on your
blocklist, so the reframe can appear first.
tabs — to redirect the current tab to the reframe page and back, and to
show the current site's status in the popup.
host access (<all_urls>) — required so Unspiral can act on any
website you choose to add to your blocklist. Unspiral only acts on the domains you add; it
does not read or store the contents of any page.
Removing your data
You can clear everything at any time from the extension's Settings page
("Restore all defaults"), or by removing the extension from Chrome. Uninstalling Unspiral
deletes all of its locally stored data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new
"Last updated" date.
