Overview

ChatSnap is a Chrome extension that allows you to export conversations from Claude.ai, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini to multiple formats (Markdown, JSON, DOC, PDF). All processing is local to your browser. No data is sent to external servers or services.

What Data We Collect

We do not collect any data. The extension:

• Reads only the messages visible on the chat page you're viewing
• Processes everything in your browser's memory
• Does not send any data over the network (except to the platform's own API, using your existing login session)
• Does not store any information locally on your device
• Does not use analytics, tracking, or telemetry

Permissions Used

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — Required to detect which platform you're on (Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini)
• scripting — Required to inject the export logic into the page

How Export Works

When you click "Export Conversation":

1. The extension reads the HTML content of the page in your browser
2. It extracts messages and metadata (title, timestamp if available)
3. It formats the content according to your chosen format (Markdown, JSON, DOC, or PDF)
4. It downloads the file to your computer

Third-Party APIs

The extension may call your platform's internal API (Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini) to fetch metadata like timestamps. These API calls:

• Use your existing login session (credentials: 'include')
• Are subject to the platform's own privacy policy
• Do not share additional information with us (this extension has no server)

Your Data Rights

Since all processing is local to your browser:

• You have complete control over what data is exported
• You can delete exported files at any time
• The extension cannot access your chat history outside the current page
• Uninstalling the extension removes all traces of it from your browser

Security

The extension:

• Does not store any encryption keys or credentials
• Does not use external services or CDNs
• Is obfuscated to prevent unauthorized modifications
